How the supply calculation works
Enter the amount you plan to use for one person during one outing. The calculator multiplies that amount by the number of people and outings, then divides the total by the bottle size you enter.
The result is packing arithmetic only. It does not select an amount, SPF, exposure time or reapplication schedule. Follow the directions on your product label.
Total amount = people × outings × amount per person; bottles = round up(total amount ÷ bottle size) NIST: Guide for the Use of the International System of Units ↗FDA: Sunscreen information ↗
Sunscreen supply calculator FAQ
Does this calculator tell me how much sunscreen to use?
No. You enter the amount. The calculator only totals your plan and converts it into bottles.
Does the calculator choose an SPF or schedule?
No. It does not use SPF, exposure time or reapplication timing. Follow the product label.
Why does the bottle count round up?
A partial final bottle still requires another bottle, so the result rounds up to a whole number.
